I have been looking at 1 Corinthians 12 all week long because of an illustrated sermon that we are doing in Kaio. It has really stirred some thoughts in my down time as to how I fit into this “Body”. I feel that I clearly understand the gifts and how the majority of those work. I know my strengths, weaknesses and the role in which I play in the body, but are those gifts in me as well as myself functioning in a way that benefits the whole body, not just me as one part. I love the way the message puts it; “…but no matter how many parts you can name, you’re still one body. It’s exactly the same way with Christ. By means of his one spirit, we all said goodbye to our partial and piecemeal lives.” (The Message) Have I truly said goodbye to me to see the bigger picture? (the whole body) I desire to live my life in a way that is encouraging and healthy to the rest of the body. It takes a lot prayer and focus to function as part of the body and not as a body part. (trust me, I know) How about you; have you given any thought to how you are living your life and unifying the body of Christ? “The way God designed our bodies is a model for understanding our lives together as a church…” (The Message)
