Hey guys and girls,

Last night we talked about protecting and nurturing this body or temple that God has paid for with such a high price. The talk was centered around the sexual temptations and sins that we are so susceptible to in our society and lives. I want to encourage you to study the verses below that we pointed you to and really give it some thought as to how you are going to improve your “temple” maintenance. (devise a plan to remain pure) I also want to point you to “Notes from Pastor Jeff” to check out the scriptures and explanations that are provided to help those of you who struggle with cutting. (if you have friends that struggle with cutting please point them to these notes or print them off for them)

1 Corinthians 6:18-20 (The Message)
16-20There’s more to sex than mere skin on skin. Sex is as much spiritual mystery as physical fact. As written in Scripture, “The two become one.” Since we want to become spiritually one with the Master, we must not pursue the kind of sex that avoids commitment and intimacy, leaving us more lonely than ever—the kind of sex that can never “become one.” There is a sense in which sexual sins are different from all others. In sexual sin we violate the sacredness of our own bodies, these bodies that were made for God-given and God-modeled love, for “becoming one” with another. Or didn’t you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit? Don’t you see that you can’t live however you please, squandering what God paid such a high price for? The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. God owns the whole works. So let people see God in and through your body.

Romans 6:12-14 (The Message)
12-14That means you must not give sin a vote in the way you conduct your lives. Don’t give it the time of day. Don’t even run little errands that are connected with that old way of life. Throw yourselves wholeheartedly and full-time—remember, you’ve been raised from the dead!—into God’s way of doing things. Sin can’t tell you how to live. After all, you’re not living under that old tyranny any longer. You’re living in the freedom of God.
