worshipwebWell if you missed out on Kaio last night, you missed out on a powerful presence of God! Last night was our night of worship and prayer. While having the entire service filled with songs of worship to our Lord, the point of the night was to stretch our thinking of what worship is. As we worship(sing), we pray, and as we pray we are offering up our worship to God! Our worship is a conscious act! It’s an act that takes just as much mind as it does heart. What it isn’t is just an emotional experience. Matthew 22:37 reminds us to Love our Lord with all our heart, soul, MIND, and strength. ALL of them, not just one. 1 Corinthians 14:14 says… “I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind.”
As Pastor Jeff recited the ancient hymn “Phos Hilaron” at the beginning of the night, I am so reminded that this act of corporate worship is not a new idea, but is something that has been around for centuries! We, as the body of Christ, take place in an event that is not only about a one on one time with God, but more importantly a time to strengthen and encourage one another in our worship! Heb. 10:25 says…”Let us not give up meeting together as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another…” Last night, as we prayed for our schools, and prayed for God to reveal new ways for us to grow and minister to our community and to those around us, we were encouraged; we were built up. And that’s the body of Christ at work. I can’t wait for our next opportunity to do it again!
