1 John 5:13 (The Message)
“My purpose in writing is simply this: that you who believe in God’s Son will know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you have eternal life, the reality and not the illusion.”
This could be considered part 2 of yesterdays post on “Abracadabra”. Not all illusions fascinate me; some are dumb. (just saying) I must also say that I like the one in the picture above. Anyways, in 1 John 5 our author is talking about the power of our faith in Jesus. (vs.4) When I read down to verse 13 in The Message; I was challenged with not only the way I look at the gift Jesus has given, but the way in which I now live out that gift of eternal life. I have to be honest; there are a lot of times that I walk through the day and approach people, creating an illusion. The illusion of a redeemed, conquering, overcoming life! I put on the face instead of realizing the reality of the gift that God has given to me and that it is available to all. Lets face it; everyone will stop and check out an illusion for a moment because it looks cool. People cling to reality though! And the reality is that God gives the gift of forgiveness of sins and eternal life through his Son Jesus. May I walk in that reality everyday so that it gives others Jesus to cling to and not some illusion to simply stare at!
