Jeremiah 25:5-7 (New Living Translation) 5 Each time the message was this: ‘Turn from the evil road you are traveling and from the evil things you are doing. Only then will I let you live in this land that the Lord gave to you and your ancestors forever. 6 Do not provoke my anger by worshiping idols you made with your own hands. Then I will not harm you. 7 “But you would not listen to me,” says the Lord. “You made me furious by worshiping idols you made with your own hands, bringing on yourselves... (more...)
Don’t you just hate bad news. On rare occasions Stacey will call me and open up the conversation with; “Do you want the good news or the bad news first.” My thought is, can I just have the good news and you keep the other for yourself. The last time she called me an opened up with that statement, our youngest child was dancing around with a baseball bat and slammed it into a flat screen T.V. that didn’t even belong to us. Talk about bad news! What was my boy doing dancing... (more...)
What a great night! Tonight we welcomed our freshman to Kaio and I must say that I am impressed with them. We challenged our group to live their life in such a way that it draws people to Jesus. In the 12th chapter of John there is a great example of this – 9 “When all the people heard of Jesus’ arrival, they flocked to see him and also to see Lazarus, the man Jesus had raised from the dead. 10 Then the leading priests decided to kill Lazarus, too, 11 for it was because of him that... I use to love saying “Your daddy is not a window maker” to people that would stand in front of the t.v. when I was trying to watch a show. I can remember family members as well as my own dad saying this to me and my brother. The point was that no one could see the the t.v. for the fact that we were in the way. This same thought came to mind as I read John 12:24 – “I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. ... (more...)
John 11:16 – “Then Thomas said to the rest of the disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.” I love the tattoo that Jesse James has on the palm of his hand that reads, “pay up”. I can imagine that a custom bike, car or anything else made by him would cost you a good little penny. So pay up is right. Anyone who seeks his services would expect it too. (your getting the best) It is no different for us who have sought the service of Jesus. (Luke 14:27-29,... (more...)
Jeremiah 1:9 – “Then the Lord reached out and touched my mouth and said; “Look, I have put my words in your mouth!” Wow! And I thought politicians and Emmy award winners had it made when giving speeches. (with their teleprompters and all) They have nothing on Jeremiah – right here in the opening chapter of this major prophets book we see the invention of the first (supernatural) teleprompter. He was telling the Lord that he was only a boy and that there is no way he... (more...)
Are you one of those people who think often of where you are going and how you got to where you are? I know that I am. There has been a verse that I have been returning to time and time again this past year; its 1 Corinthians 11:1 and it says: “And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ.”(NLT) Paul is simply saying here; let me navigate you as Christ navigates me. I used to think this was a scary statement to make to someone else. (put your life direction in my hands please)... (more...)
Last night at Kaio we talked about what it means for us to be filled with the Spirit and to live a life filled with the Spirit. Here is what Ephesians says; Ephesians 5:15-20 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms,... See You at the Pole™, the global day of student prayer, began in 1990 as a grass roots movement with ten students praying at their school. Twenty years later, millions pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday in September. See You at the Pole™ is simply a prayer rally where students meet at the school flagpole before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation to God. SYATP is a student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led event. We will be holding a... (more...)
